MAN WHO WROTE S'PORE PLEDGE DIES
Former Deputy Prime Minister S. Rajaratnam, one of Singapore's founding fathers, has died.
1915 - 2006
- Mr S Rajaratnam was one of the founding members of the PAP in 1954.
- He served as Kampong Glam MP and Minister(Culture/Foreign/Affairs/Labour) over the years.
- In 1966, he wrote the national plegde.
- In 1980, he was Second Deputy Prime Minister (Foreign Affairs).
- He retired from politics in 1988.
- Soon after his retirement, his wife, Ms Piroska Feher died of pneumonia in 1989 at age 75.
